Handi Kids is a non-profit
charitable organization established in 1963 by
the King Solomon Lodge, Knights of Pythias.
Originally its activities focused on providing
assistance in meeting special medical costs for
handicapped children. Later, Handi Kids
developed a "home bound" program, which
provided physical and recreation therapy to
disabled children whose families chose to keep
them home.
In 1978, Handi Kids received gift of 35 acres
of woodland in Bridgewater, MA which now boasts
a multi-purpose building with gymnasium, dance
and music studio along with administration
offices. The outdoor facility has lots to offer
with a 1/4 mile track, athletic field,
pavilion, a pond stocked with fish,
a swimming pool, nature trails through the
woods, and a petting zoo with stable.
Our newest addition (completed in 2001) is an
enclosed indoor riding arena, which includes
administration offices, tack rooms, waiting
area for families, and wash bays for the
horses.
